I worked on on my <a href="http://www.spartangames.co.uk/games/dystopian-wars/kingdom-of-britannia">Kingdom of Britannia</a> starter box for <a href="http://www.spartangames.co.uk/games/dystopian-wars">Dystopian Wars</a> from <a href="http://www.spartangames.co.uk/">Spartan Games</a>. I’m sure everyone knows plenty about the game and its steampunk setting<br />
<br />
I’m still working on my epic background, but it starts like this:<br />

After this set of titles the fluff gets a little weaker unfortunately, but I am working on it. I am also working on getting the models painted. I’ve completed the Tribal cruisers, and I also made a good start on the Doncasters. Here is the first completed vessel and its squadron.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As I mentioned in the Extra Life post I'm planning on making two Muskets and Tomahawks forces to play Sharpe and his Chosen Men against the French during the Peninsular War. Just like the earliest episodes of Sean Bean's series.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Since starting Bolt Action a few months back I've been looking into other historical periods that'd be fun to play and interested me. I was looking hard at <a href="http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/101865/saga" target="_blank">Saga: Dark Ages Skirmish Game</a>, and I'm not ruling it out at all. :) But more importantly it led me to Studio Tomahawks <a href="http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/126119/muskets-tomahawks-skirmishes-north-america-during?" target="_blank">Muskets and Tomahawks</a>. The game is actually a rule set for playing skirmish games in the French Indian Wars (1754-1763) in North America, but I'm pretty sure with the right troop selections it do the Napoleonic job nicely.<br />
<br />
I'd looked around for a rule set, most of what I found was for larger scale games and the excellent looking Sharp Practice Napoleonic skirmish game just didn't feel right for me. I heard of Muskets and Tomahawks on the <a href="http://meeples.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/meeples-miniatures-episode-88/" target="_blank">Meeples & Miniatures</a> podcast, their review was great with a lot of detail. The sound of how it played and the numbers of models used was perfect. Plus the missions and secondary missions really tempted me.<br />
<br />
So I got a hold of the rules and worked out some army lists and have put in an order for the models I need from Warlord Games and Perry Miniatures. Next post I'll look into the lists a little and the models I've ordered, Right now I can't wait for them to arrive.</div>

They have a unique place in the market right now, full on plastic moulded buildings of a high quality and amazing simplicity (all four of my four buildings consisted of just seven pieces each). The first building I built, randomly chosen the Barn, I put together in the car as soon as I picked up the package.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDgm4dRW7qLmqMB8_m3deE2cOnd8Y-ZeYmlNVFBoPzwbOIEkD1YZG08sGeqWNAMW8CihqQwlx8MICuu9qucxbJtyuQ6It34f3Gz3jd5crrUlbv1maspd77-qe_N70C2E9n06ZDuyy_2no/s1600/TTWP.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; display: inline !important; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDgm4dRW7qLmqMB8_m3deE2cOnd8Y-ZeYmlNVFBoPzwbOIEkD1YZG08sGeqWNAMW8CihqQwlx8MICuu9qucxbJtyuQ6It34f3Gz3jd5crrUlbv1maspd77-qe_N70C2E9n06ZDuyy_2no/s1600/TTWP.png" height="200" width="200" /></a></div>

I'd ordered the <a href="http://www.tabletopworkshop.co.uk/tabletopshop/prod_3521147-28mm-Monastic-Scenery-Set.html" target="_blank">28mm Monastic Scenery Set</a>, which for £50 and free shipping gave me four buildings, three making a little farmstead and a stone chapel. Fantastic value and less than ten minutes to put together. I then spent another 20 minutes total filling the five joints in each roof and walls with greenstuff to have seamless builds. Half an hours work and a few different coloured cans of Army Builder spray and I had a little hamlet looking like the building on the far right in the picture below.</div>

I'm considering spraying the walls of the chapel grey as opposed to this bone/stone colour. I think it'll be easier to drybrush up the detailed surface stones then. I've spoken to Tabletop Workshop on Twitter (<a href="https://twitter.com/TabtopWorkshop" target="_blank">@TabtopWorkshop</a>)and got some tips on how to paint the thatch, I haven't quite got it yet perhaps this could be a little lighter? I'd love some comments on the painting. Apart from that though the Barn is finished and I'm pretty happy with the result.<br />

<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Our Tormites were first to enter the room, Melchett our cleric failed a save and was cursed as he crossed the threshhold. Every time he spoke the name of his God, Torm, he said Cyric, but heard himself still Torm, and vica versa. From Darling the Tormite paladin he heard the same, Cyric when Darling said Torm and Torm when Darling said Cyric. Finally Melchett also saw the alter of Torm in the centre of the room as an alter of Cyric. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">These changes were enough to sow dissent and among our hotheaded Tormites (Cyricysts) dissent equals aggression. Our bard, Khan, in a panic about his allies turning on each other attacked the alter thinking it would be the cause and our ranger (me) and our wizard, seeing the bard (who carried an evil blade) attack Torm's symbol and the Tormite cleric declaring for Cyric struck.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">As I was removing the evil blade from the fallen bards body Darling, the paladin began to shackle the downed cleric. Melchett tried to call on Torm for aid, now fornthe third time using Cyric's name in a prayer to Torm...</span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">Torm arrived in the room shattering the curse and aweing us all. On my request Torm removed Khan's evil sword (Blackrazor), granting him a holy blade in return, the effect on Khan's temprement was immediate. He honoured Darling with praise and left Melchett with the need to prove himself worthy three times before he could be forgiven for invokeing Cyric's name. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto;">All in all a fantastic encounter (with ourselves). The players of the paladin, cleric and the bard really hit it iut of the ball park with this one and left us in a hell of a situation. I'd recommend any DM's to think about how a simple curse or misunderstanding can lead to amazing RP moments and oppurtunities. </span></div>

<br />
Hannes and I played a game of Bolt Action this week, he came at my small American and British force (ca.1500pts.) with a large elite formation (ca.3000pts.). Two Stug and two Tigers alongside a mechanised Waffen SS and Pioneer force. We had a great game over six turns, late into the night. As befits a a game that was more focused on the challenge of the battle and the story we didn't call a winner at the end of the game.<br />

The Americans had hunkered down in the second floor of the Lisieux library where the British Chaplain had told them the Germans would be heading. They knew they were out numbered but couldn't let the Germans get a hold of the Grimoire of Olkoth. They only had to hold on long enough for the British Commandos to come and retrieve the book.<br />
<br />
The Germans advance was a powerful spearhead of armour, a classic assault of the style the German commander, Obersturnfurher von Moltke favoured. However, an American bazooka the British Artillery fire that was called in by the Chaplain's command group and lay down a weathering barrage on the tanks and machine guns that were surrounding the town centre.<br />

The going was slow, even for the mechanised Germans. With such a heavy firefight across the streets and ruined buildings it took time before the Pioneers got to the library doors. When they did however their flammenwerfer was a force of destruction. Many books and many Americans went up in flames.<br />

Soon after though the Commandos arrived forcing back the SS squads coming to support the Pioneers. The Commandos stopped the troops, but with the Americans in the library falling to the Pioneers von Moltke's tanks began to advance again.<br />

<br />
As the town of Lisieux was overrun by Germans the British Chaplain escaped in a Bren Universal Carrier with the Grimoire of Olkoth.<br />
<br />
We had a really great game, the Germans were unstoppable, but with a strong set up and a lucky Artillery barrage the game had a great feel to it. The German flamethrower was deadly, and my Matilda II felt pathetic compared to the German Tigers. British Commandos are deadly in close combat, just eating through the troops and the Regular American G.I.'s in the library were really hardy, the last men being blown up by a tank shell the same time they reach 10 pins.<br />
<br />
I'd recommend anyone to play an unbalanced points game as long as you understand things will go they way you expect them to most of the time. I'm looking forward now to getting some more Bolt Action games in with my Commandos, the troops are almost finished now so soon I'll be turning to transports. Seeing the Tigers in action I'm also a little tempted by a Cromwell or Firefly. </div>

<br />
Personality Traits:<br />
Like most who live aboard a ship, Bran lives by the motto 'Work hard before you play hard.'<br />
To give any aid you can is a virtue, to aid those in peril is a duty.<br />
<br />
Ideal:<br />
No ship or its captain can live up to the image of Arian aboard the Redcutter in Bran's eyes.<br />
<br />
Bond:<br />
Stanos, the Cleric of Vulkar who inspired Bran to join the church and devote his life to protecting Faerun's sailors.<br />
<br />
Flaw:<br />
Bran doesn't tell ships crews to do things for fun, he does it to save lives and expects to be listened to.<br />
<br />
<br />
Father: Arian Redcutter, Human, Captain of The Redcutter a Sword Coast independent trading ship.<br />
Mother: Evershun, Half Elf, Trade Mistress of the Redcutter.<br />
Sister: Sundir (Sunny), Half Elf, Naval cadet in the navy of Amm in the Sea of Swords, two years younger.<br />
<br />
<br />
Growing up on the Redcutter Bran came to idealise ships and their crews early in his life, planning always to become a carefree captain like his father, Captain Arian. However a savage storm of thunder, lightning and epic waves struck the port city of Waterdeep and almost took Arian's life and did drown Bran's youngest sibling, Tom. Seeing how Stanos, the Cleric of Vulkar aboard the Redcutter at the time acted so bravely to fend of the waters, save Arian and almost save Tom, Bran decided to devote himself to Vulkar's worship. A decision supported by his family.<br />
<br />
Whenever the Redcutter passed Stanos along the Sword Coast over the next two years Bran would visit if possible to learn about the ways of Vulkar. Then when he turned 14 Bran traveled to the temple of Vulkar in Calisham to begin his training. Over the next six years Bran would learn and train in the teachings of Vulkar, developing as a sailor and as a cleric. First in the temple he learned to worship and to call on Vulkar's aid. Then as a Deck Novice he traveled a year with Stanos and a year with another older cleric aboard trading vessals willing to house them. Their aid and Vulkars blessing being a valuable boon to the Captain whilst they taught of their God to the crews. At 18 Bran served in the navy of Cormyr serving in the Dragonmere, learning of naval battle and what a war galleon could achieve, turning the blessings of Vulkar into healing for injured sailors and marines or fogbanks that would conceal a ships movememts.<br />
<br />
The year he turned 20 Bran was awarded the rank of Cleric of the Sweeps and allowed to make his own way in the world. For the past few years Bran has been serving ships along the Chionthar river, his friendly and positive nature making him a popular and much sought after cleric for one so inexperienced in using Vulkar's gifts.Drake Poldragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07710237345618842164noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6071757151133008220.post-90940977657350597482014-09-27T18:44:00.002+02:002015-06-18T23:29:59.871+02:00New Look BlogIf anyone here remembers the blog from before then they'll see the difference clearly. Firstly I've dropped the Inquisitor Drake name for Drake Poldragon, this is to mark the change from being very 40k focused to more about what I'm doing within the much larger hobby. I've also gone for a lighter and more earthy colour scheme, again to pull away from the gothic dark past of the blog.<br />
<br />
I'm hoping to include a much wider range of topics now, including the board games. I play and more of the background modelling I do. Terrain, gaming table, Dungeons and Dragons, the works. I hope people enjoy the blog, I'd love comments. I hope I can pull off a more regular posting schedule and turn my little corner of the hobby into something others can also enjoy.<br />

So it's back to the blog for me, inspired by a new game Bolt Action.<br />

I'm going to try and record the forming of my British Commando force. Hopefully with a bit of motivation behind me I'll even keep some decent level of posting here, maybe a few Dark Angel posts too.<br />
<br />
Now here are a few pics of my first couple of games. My friend Hannes and I played a couple of 500 point games last week. My Commandos still haven't arrived so I was using the Assault on Normandy US Infantry against Hannes' German force. The Stug was scary...<br />

People the world over entered, picking a two hour slot at some point through the day and getting a model from undercoated to showing off.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I recomend anyone to do a search on Twitter for the #speedpaint and checking out what everyone has managed. Here is the Big Meks's page with all of the enteries in the end, <span style="-webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.292969); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: 15px; line-height: 19px; white-space: nowrap;">http://bigmek.net/entries-from-the-global-speedpaint-contest-this-weekend/</span> . Following are some images of my own Ravenwing VeteranSergent Amariel. I'll chuck in a shot of @MyLuLei's Tombking, as she and @jim_1284 kept me company for my two hours over Skype. </div>

This is still a what I'm up to and what I'm into kind of blog. However, almost all of my hobby time right now, and for this year has been directed to the Dark Angels. As of the Apocalypse game I played in on Thursday evening I've now played 15 games with the new codex and have loved them all. So here are some of my thoughts about what I've used. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Starting with my list. Most of my games have been at the 1000-1200 levels, that's where the GW games sit and about all my CSM friend can scape together. Below is about 1,500 points that I usually select from, you'll all recognise the core as being Dark Vengeance, although I've expanded pretty extensively on that by now. </div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRZvL6vkoDBOooSyXD1mtxLgnPRTU0Gpd6Bp1bPLfiYRmtaspU2cPjsntKYuPSwHnABXdQAt3phjEoH1v-_u7AEerba-BDZ9_BCxWd_Ug8vP2xYS9OKG_pCBdZF0gZ-fROTjbAMhz4YI0/s640/blogger-image-902904491.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRZvL6vkoDBOooSyXD1mtxLgnPRTU0Gpd6Bp1bPLfiYRmtaspU2cPjsntKYuPSwHnABXdQAt3phjEoH1v-_u7AEerba-BDZ9_BCxWd_Ug8vP2xYS9OKG_pCBdZF0gZ-fROTjbAMhz4YI0/s640/blogger-image-902904491.jpg"></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Belial 190</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Librarian 65</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Venerable Dreadnought 125</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">10 Tactical Space Marines: plasma pistol; chainsword; plasma gun; plasma cannon. 180</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">5 Deathwing Terminators: Deathwing Terminator Sergeant (storm bolter; power sword); 3× storm bolter; 3× power fist; chainfist; assault cannon. 245</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">5 Deathwing Terminators: power fist; 2× pair of lightning claws; 2× thunder hammer and storm shield; assault cannon. 250</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">5 Assault Space Marines: Veteran Sergeant (bolt pistol; jump pack); power weapon; jump packs; 2× plasma pistol. 140</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">10 Devastator Space Marines: Space Marine Sergeant (bolt pistol); chainsword; 5× boltgun; 2× missile launcher (flakk missiles); 2× plasma cannon. 220</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Imperial Bastion: gun emplacement with quad-gun. 125</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Like many a DA player before me I've gravitated towards Belial as my HQ, unlocking the Deathwing as Troops is the main reason, but I have got good value out of his not scattering on Deep Strikes. I have trouble using him however, he is not quite killy enough to go it alone, T4 & A3, these are the stats I find weak. Being doubled out happens too often and I just can't keep him away from all those nasty strong Lords as I'm trying to Slay the Warlord and complete The Hunt (+1vp for killing the Warlord with Belial or his unit). Plus, only 3 attacks means he takes forever to get through a unit when he isn't fighting the heroes. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">The Librarian is great, with Divination on the Primaris power he is best friends with my Devastator squad and their heavy weapons. I've tried him out in TDA as well, mixed results so far, his un-Lord-like stats have let him down a bit so I expect more of a support role to remain for this guy. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I've run both Venerable and Unvenerated Dreadnoughts, always with the basic loadout. I lost one once, they seem to do a great job for me, I worry that in larger games they may be too easily picked off as an opportunity target. I've been using him to punch a nasty hole with his multimelta or deal with smaller squads in combat. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">My Tactical Squad is GOLD. They take objectives, defend Bastions, gun down anything approaching and then club the survivors with their Boltgun butts. I tend to have them in combat squads as I need the scoring units for such small point games. However after a recent experiment with the Thrice Blessed [insert angelic choir here] Sacred Standard of Devastation I am thinking of trying some games with more tactical squads. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">The Terminators get the job done, they tend to fall eventually to massed fire, but I feel this is normally only because they are thrown straight on the fire every game. It's great getting them as Troops for 1,000 point games but in a larger engagement then they could return to Elite if it wasn't such a busy slot already, they are too deadly to waste holding objectives. Maybe if I increase the squad size they could live to take something late game?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">I feel I often hear stories about SM Assault Squads not being the bomb. My five man squad with plasma pistols often take a casualty or two on the way in but still manage to pull out wins and Sweeping Advances all over the place. They make a great flank strike force whilst I try to be a little careful about who they face. If you face enemies in a building then I recommend racing Hell to Leather to get your Assault Squad there, read up on the grenades thrown in fire points and the laugh at you opponents tears.</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSDQJNQVlTAaGSS6ymiIrUx-VgfHVO-2lFe4mTNjmhHD63snFlXvrHw1fLOgivo0p8ccY8O3N9-WTHpD4uw8s61DJBnmD5iHkIgroNqdfiA__L9Um3_wtq5xNZ58T9fTqEOv3ULnLL90/s640/blogger-image-1671485595.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpSDQJNQVlTAaGSS6ymiIrUx-VgfHVO-2lFe4mTNjmhHD63snFlXvrHw1fLOgivo0p8ccY8O3N9-WTHpD4uw8s61DJBnmD5iHkIgroNqdfiA__L9Um3_wtq5xNZ58T9fTqEOv3ULnLL90/s640/blogger-image-1671485595.jpg"></a></div></div><div><br></div><div>My Devastators are normally fielded in combat squads, that way the Flakk missiles can shoot freely at any flyers that may be around. I tend to keep the Sergeant with the plasma cannons to help fix bad scatter rolls. The missile launcher squad likes to sit up in the Bastion with the Re-roll Librarian and the Quadcannon. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>All in all I'm enjoying the Dark Angels on the table, I've rolled out the Deathwing Knights and three man Ravenwing Attack Squad (Dark Vengeance for the win I say) once each so don't feel I know them yet, both worked well enough. What I have tried plays to the fluff perfectly, my Greenwing hold posistions and pump out bolter fire whilst the Deathwing arrive and kill, sadly they tend to die in the process (I guess that's why they paint their armour white). </div></div><div><br></div><div>If anyone reads this, please let me know what you think of these views, am I missing a trick, have I been crazy lucky with my Assault Squads? Do you play Dark Angels, what are your thoughts? What DA units do you fear meeting? </div></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><img src="webkit-fake-url://AF178C1E-386E-496D-BE60-ECE439A980C6/imagepng">Drake Poldragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07710237345618842164noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6071757151133008220.post-2206244239715215692013-07-17T23:40:00.001+02:002013-07-17T23:41:48.381+02:00The Unforgiven<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So, veeery little blogging over the past half year. Since I got an iPad for Xmas I almost never use a regular computer anymore. Hence I don't really do the blog thing now. :)</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">However as anyone who still comes by here may have noticed I posted a Dark Angels battle report in January, this was because I have a Dark Angels army now and have been playing some 40k (15 games in 2013 so far). Most of you that may read this likely know about my Unforgiven from Twitter, but I thought it time to get some pics and details down in more than 142 characters. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Just before Christmas last year I played through the Dark Vengeance missions with a friend,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">And LOVED it, the game was so much fun and the 2+5++ Terminators were awesome. </div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrvNfWRvbnMOCtBYsAitKu6TJ4rqnfJ_7m-OBuUiTbN-YTvsmWlxAMznphWl8E87A5b2b32C5zpNUs6hfDyVCUaH7vTZ0oO6HJEjP2xVOpp11jJIiE9DriKps4G8HjlRzMDkL0ikFnN0A/s640/blogger-image-366322587.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrvNfWRvbnMOCtBYsAitKu6TJ4rqnfJ_7m-OBuUiTbN-YTvsmWlxAMznphWl8E87A5b2b32C5zpNUs6hfDyVCUaH7vTZ0oO6HJEjP2xVOpp11jJIiE9DriKps4G8HjlRzMDkL0ikFnN0A/s640/blogger-image-366322587.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">So I set about painting the models from the DV set and converting my own Belial to join in Games Workshop Oslo's new year 1000pt campaign 'The Battle for Cardryad'. The line at Stavron Station was to be held and key points along the battle field controlled to keep supply lines secure. </p> <p><br>+++Summary: Codicer Azamader+++</p> <p> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="801"> <tbody> <tr> <td valign="top" width="501">Tactical Squad Delcius and I advanced to the tip of the ridge overlooking the outpost we were to hold. Still behind the defence line the large creatures were advancing towards us, a multitude of chittering 'Gants around their feet. This force was larger than we had been led to believe. Whilst Sergeant Delcius contacted Command about the situation I led his squad in firing upon the Genestealers that I sensed already amongst the buildings. As the creatures fell back away from our point we heard a thunder clap and Nicodemus arrived with his Deathwing squad, resplendent in their bone white armour they lay waste to smaller creatures with bolter fire. Already two of our number had fallen, Brother Nico had perished as he tried to thin the vast horde with excessive plasma fire and I noted that one of Nicodemus' squad had never arrived.</td> <td width="298"> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-7PBfikS1kCQ/UOmsqUVA09I/AAAAAAAAA7Q/cyQbNAjbbbY/s1600-h/Battle%252520Report%2525201%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Battle Report 1" border="0" alt="Battle Report 1" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-7wrsu5IIB-0/UOmsrolfHPI/AAAAAAAAA7Y/CrvUkrHarKE/Battle%252520Report%2525201_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="296" height="222"></a></p></td></tr></tbody></table></p> <p> <br>The largest of creatures turned towards Nicodemus as it dropped fleshy sacks from its underbelly. These burst revealing even more of the smaller Tyranids, all advancing on the Deathwing. The rest of the Xenos advanced towards the station under fire from squad Delcius. Our fire appeared to injure the Carnefixes maraud ring towards us but they kept advancing. <br>Nicodemus and his Deathwing charged, stormbolters blazing, into the Gants and slew a great number of them. However I sensed Brother Demian pulled down by their weight of numbers. As the Brood Mother of the Tyranids crashed into that combat, Nicodemus met her with a defiant cry and not a step of ground given to her bulk. He also informed me via suit vox units that he had called Squad Shuro into the stations defence alongside us and to prepare for their arrival via teleportarium soon. </p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-l8vZJUcce-c/UOmstZzCjqI/AAAAAAAAA7g/qBC9SgoNGvI/s1600-h/Battle%252520Report%2525202%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="Battle Report 2" border="0" alt="Battle Report 2" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-iF-4h2YCv8E/UOmsuvePXzI/AAAAAAAAA7k/7RjDpB3msn0/Battle%252520Report%2525202_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="316" height="237"></a></p> <p align="left"><br>As the two Carnifexes came crashing in towards us I sensed a strong malevolence in the fates, first came the fall of Sergeant Drethial besides Nicodemus and then came the crushing claws of the Tyranids ahead of the squad I accompanied. The taskforce's Apothecary was able to revive me after the battle and I learnt how the Tyranids came to pass us by and lay ruin upon the Imperial lines. I have since the last time had a lovely birthday, Christmas and New Year. On a more hobby related front I have also got a lot together ready for this years Deathwatch, no pictures there though as I don't want to give the game away. Soon I'll be working out a date for that and begin ramping up to the game. First up will be the story of last years game written by Simon. <br />
<br />
What I can show however is the 1000 point Dark Angels force I'm putting together for GW Oslo's Battle for the Caradryad Sector (http://www.facebook.com/events/100127140162393/). Here are the wip shots of the army so far. Some day soon I'll sit at a real computer and lay out a propper blog post about how I made my Belial conversion, his alternative backstory and what the army consists of. This was planned out just before the White Dwarf leeks so I now can't wait to see how it all goes. <br />
<br />
Well the campaign begins tomorrow so I had better get some sleep, wish me luck for my first real games of 6th. Ed.<br />

Please let me know what you think of these models, Tiberius would love to read any comments I'm sure. Plus I'd like to know if people like the idea of the occasional guest spot from friends of mine, and if so how should they be done? Should I get people to write a piece themselves? Do you want lots of pics or plenty of text?</div>

All of us who are going for it are agreeing to a very slow build 40k army using only (or as near to it as possible) Forge World resin figures. There is a good range of different armies on the planning block right now so we can expect some interesting looking forces to start developing in a year or so.<br />
<br />
Personally I’ve chosen the Mantis Warriors Space Marine chapter, specifically the Imperial Armour 10: Badab War part 2 force.<br />
<div align="center">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-zQBuUU9AkNg/UHSrYU1nAJI/AAAAAAAAAzE/-B0Kc0o0PrM/s1600-h/Mantis_Warriors_Battle-Brother%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Mantis_Warriors_Battle-Brother" height="358" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-aiE3J0ndQg8/UHSrZ_9QPbI/AAAAAAAAAzI/u7J9EAFwhXM/Mantis_Warriors_Battle-Brother_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="display: inline;" title="Mantis_Warriors_Battle-Brother" width="237" /></a></div>
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width: 800px;"> <tbody>
<tr> <td align="center" width="400">I’ve been a fan of these guys ever since I saw the Tranquillity Campaign snipers back in the day (White Dwarf 101, released a couple of months before I first played Warhammer). <br />
Then I read the Deathwatch novel Warrior Brood which made the Mantis Warriors out to be pretty awesome and victims of their own honour.</td> <td align="center" width="400"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-rPrzq2yrOt8/UHSrahwRrkI/AAAAAAAAAzU/9G8B83Izlro/s1600-h/Tranq%252520Vet%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Tranq Vet" height="240" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-8LYz6dr7PiQ/UHSrb1Ger2I/AAAAAAAAAzc/SsP7UNh8tZk/Tranq%252520Vet_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="display: inline;" title="Tranq Vet" width="166" /></a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
So with this kind of interest in the chapter I’ve gone to the IA10 book and started studying. The #ForgeWorldOnly plan involves buying units individually and not buying the next one until you’ve completed the painting on the first. The first goal is a 1750pt list, which I will be making up from 1st Company Veterans & the remnants of 4th Company after their savage fighting against Genestealers. This places them at the start of the Badab Wars.<br />
<br />
OK, more on the details of my lists and fluff is to come, for now I recommend anyone to search <a href="https://twitter.com/i/#!/search?q=%23ForgeWorldOnly&src=typd">#ForgeWorldOnly</a> on Twitter and check out Richards blog <a href="http://skirmishgamer.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1">Forge World Only</a>. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-qhxsDO2sa_k/UGbO2UiUXHI/AAAAAAAAAyI/lQTWHwSw6Gg/s1600-h/IMG_1783%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_1783" border="0" height="240" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-xaM37x-tTgA/UGbO3U8xpZI/AAAAAAAAAyM/vAfe0cXVObA/IMG_1783_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_1783" width="179" /></a><br />
<br />
Hard bound, as looking at the Chaos Space Marine codex will be the way of things during 6th edition, and penned by CZ Dunn (also known as an editor by the name of Christian Dunn). The story is clearly intended to be accessible to younger readers, with a large spaced typeface that barely fill up the 126 pages and short attention capturing chapters. This is not said as a complaint, but is worth noting so as people know what to expect.<br />
<br />
In fact the short chapter style is probably the books greatest asset, as it provides the perfect opportunity for a very broad range of viewpoints to be explored in so few words. In greater and lesser amounts we get some story from the points of view of seven Dark Angels, two Chaos Space marines and two Chaos Cultist Leaders. The last two are only single chapters that go into depth on the characters backgrounds, detailing how they came to be fighting alongside the Crimson Slaughter Chaos Space Marines and tying them into the box set figures nicely.<br />
<br />
It’s the story told through the Marines views that drive the narrative forwards. Between the White Dwarf (Sept. ‘12 – 393) and the contents of the box the outline of the story and some salient details about the characters are fairly well known, and I won’t spoil it all any further. Suffice to say that the story is simple and fast paced.<br />
<br />
The story’s best part in my opinion were the flash back scenes that detailed what characters had been up to before their arrival at Banes Landing, the books setting. The tale of Sergent Arion’s good fortune in the Fourth Company before becoming a member of the Ravenwing or learning some of the details behind Mortis Metalikus’ creation were great parts. I feel also,that Dunn captured the mistrust, secretive and layered ways of the Dark Angels at all levels of the chapter with uncertainty and duplicity being constant in the ways the Dark Angels handle things. However all these flashbacks add to the fact that the central story is brief at best, token at worst. Not the biggest crime for a little add-on to a main product, but at £12rsp it is expensive for what you get.<br />
<br />
I’ll give this a <span style="color: red; font-size: small;">5.5/10</span>. The story was enjoyable though brief and the characters were interesting though underdeveloped individually. The biggest problem I have with the book though is the price, it seems too much for 126 sparse pages to compliment a box set, although if you get a chance to read it the little time you’ll use will not be wasted.Drake Poldragonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07710237345618842164noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6071757151133008220.post-57168534200055822092012-09-27T19:09:00.001+02:002012-09-27T19:09:15.883+02:00The Works of the Inquisitor– A Cygnar Journeyman WarcasterWell a few days ago I <a href="http://inquisitordrake.blogspot.no/2012/09/what-i-read-focuseddoc-bungles.html" target="_blank">posted a summary</a> of <a href="https://twitter.com/docbungle" target="_blank">Doc Bungle</a>'s Cygnar lists for a tournament. I found his posts a true inspiration and I thought I'd post a little about my Cygnar force. So here are some details on my recent move in to the Iron Kingdoms of <span style="color: yellow;">Warma</span>Hordes.<br />
<br />
Last October I joined the Journeyman’s League that Privateer Press organised, held in Outland, Oslo’s FLGS. I knew some of the others that were entering and had been looking for a while to try out the game. I’d been hearing more and more about it after the ‘collapse’ of the Fantasy scene in Australia and the related podcast fallout and the D6Generation’s mixed views on the game so I jumped at the chance to get involved in an organised fashion.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-IWcrAHM1fNM/UAbwvX6M6vI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/Y26Zy2q2cfY/s1600-h/Cygnar%252520Logo%2525201%25255B24%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Cygnar Logo 1" border="0" height="218" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-bISNzU82BVE/UAbw9eqiktI/AAAAAAAAAPY/TUKzrr1HQFo/Cygnar%252520Logo%2525201_thumb%25255B22%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="Cygnar Logo 1" width="438" /></a><br />
<br />
I looked at the options for quite a while, a few faction in both games looked good Khador, Circle & Mercs all having some appeal, but it was the Golden Swans that won me over, I liked the idea of a dark looking Cygnar force trampsing through a Khador town (having now read some more fluff that doesn’t seem likely to occur). So I picked up a Battle Box for my week one games and got glueing…<br />

<br />
I ended up with two Battle Boxes (the things a dedicated hobbyist finds in his Bitz Box) so used some parts of Micro Arts Studio figure (Wolfgung I think) to make my second Stryker into a Journeyman warcaster. Then on the next Sunday I got in my first few games. Turns out Warmachine is really fun!! The Khador opponent (and other Khador players) beat me so many times during the league I added something special to an upcoming base. Over the next few weeks I played a lot of games (23) and achieved an almost 40% win ratio. On the <a href="http://www.beastsofwar.com/" target="_blank">Beasts of War </a>forums I kept a bit of a record of my progress, so if after reading this you'd like to see more photos including wip pics and some thoughts after battles please feel free to follow<a href="http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/warmachine-general-discussion/forum/topic/a-cygnar-journeymans-tale/" target="_blank"> this link</a> and have a browse. I also almost scored the most points for painting during the period, so here is the rest of my Cygnar force as it stands today.<br />

So you see for a six week period I went in pretty heavy, conversions, big figures, scenic bases, the works. Since then things have of course slowed down, most of what I started is finished, I need to finish the Stormswords and Black 13th and I’m working on my Stormclad and a Stormcaller.<br />

Over the past few weeks <a href="https://twitter.com/docbungle">Doc Bungle</a> over at <a href="http://minimusingofabear.wordpress.com/">Miniature Musings of a Bear</a> has been showcasing his Cygnar forces that he took to his first tournament this past weekend. I’ve been following the articles with real joy, not only because the choices he has made are similar to the one I would have but also because he has given such great reasons behind the choices. This series may not be an in depth tactica but it really is interesting, thorough and clear. On top of that Dave’s army looks great and filthy. Below are a few pictures from his posts and links to the different articles he posted.<br />

<span style="color: lime;">So Thursday afternoon I picked my post out of the mailbox and found the new Whit</span><span style="color: lime;">e Dwarf had arrived. Two happy days early. <img alt="Smile" class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-g60SfBZ5_wU/UF3Fbm8AxgI/AAAAAAAAArI/-ptUSVUovoQ/wlEmoticon-smile2.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none;" /> Having avoided Twitter and most blogs for a few days now so as not to tarnish my first impressions I was very pleased to receive it two days early. Now normally White Dwarf reviews are <a href="http://warllama40k.blogspot.no/search/label/White%20Dwarf">WarLlama’s area</a> not mine, but this is something special so I figured I’d stick my oar in. And I mean it, this issue is really something special. This is a change on the level of ‘Fat Dwarf’ if not bigger.</span><br />
<span style="color: lime;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: lime;">First of all some external changes that have gone on. This is the October 2012 issue, not issue 394. Looks like there will be no more numbers, not a big problem but perhaps a little sad given how high a number we had come to. The general layout of the cover has taken a change, bold headlines, new (pictured above) logo and back to a quote on the spine. Speaking of which, where is the rest of my Dark Angel spinal image? Whilst my WD collection is not as impressive as <a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=521880201160148&set=a.173696835978488.50136.172179092796929&type=1&theater">Nick Simmerson’s</a> I have about 100 issues lined up on display and I gave this years issues their own box for display.</span><br />

As we’ll see throughout the magazine there is a pretty dense, photo heavy layout. At 152 pages this is 25% larger again than the previous issue. The new releases section of the magazine and the back section that covers hobby centres and independent stockists are larger than ever but beyond that there is only one, double page spread that could be described as a true advert. I’m not saying that the entire magazine doesn’t try (quite hard and effectively) to sell GW products, but everything else is slotted neatly into articles and features. Those there are plenty of.</td></tr>

<br />
So after the preamble comes the New Releases section, 46 pages of it. The focus is on the new Chaos Space Marines codex and figures coming out, some stunning stuff, but the focus of this review is White Dwarf itself. However to get a nice photo of some new models here and show off something pretty special from the magazine I present this…<br />

<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-_MJy8Z6LoAk/UF3FlXGE_RI/AAAAAAAAAsg/WxWwEFhGljQ/s1600-h/IMG_1726%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_1726" border="0" height="349" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-NRmlHdtRj7M/UF3FmDYjFuI/AAAAAAAAAso/a7tYoNl0COs/IMG_1726_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;" title="IMG_1726" width="818" /></a><br />
<br />
On top of this we see that White Dwarf has a four page, opening up spread, quite a way to display new products. Each featured model includes a description of it in terms of fluff and a ‘discussion’ on the model from a visual standpoint and a little about gameplay. These write ups were done by various members of the White Dwarf team and are initialled to indicate who wrote it. I feel that this is one of the many little touches throughout the new WD that give the feeling of a much more modern, mature and ‘professional’ magazine than we’ve received before. Alongside all of the new Chaos releases are multiple pages about Black Library and Forge World releases, plus a double page on <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=215&enmi=Relic">Relic</a> from Fantasy Flight Games, the 40k version of Talisman. Plus a mention of the upcoming Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition coming soon from Cyanide. There is another two pages about digital products, most notably White Dwarf Digital Edition, that’ll be a discussion for another day…<br />
<br />
Army of the Month is the first true article, it provides a look at Ben Johnson’s (formally of the <a href="http://baddice.co.uk/">Bad Dice Podcast</a>) Skaven army. The introduction to the piece includes an explanation as to their plans for showcasing armies from the studio as well as armies from the larger community. Ben’s Skaven was a great example, a fantastic and detailed looking army. <br />

A considerable amount of information is included in these blocks throughout the issue.</td> <td align="center" width="375"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-m87-3z2G7d4/UF3Fm2cz9xI/AAAAAAAAAsw/RHaF6YjwHXc/s1600-h/IMG_1728%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_1728" height="240" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-pkZjNsBjqFE/UF3Fn6B9HII/AAAAAAAAAs4/edoNz75GKoA/IMG_1728_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="display: inline;" title="IMG_1728" width="179" /></a></td></tr>

Jervis’s two page write-up about some part or another of the hobby (this time comp. and army limits) is in there the same as it ever has been (recent article about how the focus of his focus has changed over time aside), and is as enjoyable, amiable and ‘hippie’ as ever. Again the new formatting, and mug shot add to the feel of a more mature magazine.</div>

Next up is a battle report, no spoilers here about the results, a whole world of conspiracies exist to debunk the meaning of ‘winning’ a bat. rep. any way. Andrew Kenrick (the previous WD editor) as the Alpha Legion vs. Adam Troke (40k 6th. designer) as White Scars. This is a 1,750 point battle where they openly and up front say they want to showcase the new things for the bad guys. So not a very narrative game but a pretty decent battle split up in to first turn, mid game and end game. Again there is some serious photo density across the pages with bullet point descriptions and a mixture of third person and first person looks as to what was going on. I enjoyed the report and the style, it felt like a good game of 40k played between generals who were both trying to win.<br />

The Rivals was a discussion between a Warhammer Fantasy Vampire Counts general and a Dark Elf general, I’ve only browsed through it as neither army interests me a great deal. However the format was that of a discussion between the two with point and counter point raised and debated. A very interesting idea for the future, and again read like an FHM group interview article.<br />

<tr> <td valign="top" width="400">You’ve probably already seen the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCwMt9ES5rE">video of Angron</a> the first of Forge Worlds Primarchs to be released for their upcoming Horus Heresy book. But here is a picture of him and a description of how Simon Egan went about sculpting him. The rest of the cover article about the Horus Heresy goes in to some details about the upcoming book, ‘The Betrayal’ and the Horus Heresy series of Black Library novels. It is a light read that I as a fan of the series and figures found to be enjoyable if not overly ground breaking. The side bar about the HH’s real life timeline was interesting, now I want the Horus Heresy CCG that was launched at the end of my ‘get a girl and life’ absence that so many of us take from the hobby.</td> <td align="center" width="399"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-8k1fGXpfgd0/UF3FtGJtVtI/AAAAAAAAAtg/CLRGZquVRQM/s1600-h/IMG_1732%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="IMG_1732" height="280" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-fH2TUjBvAjI/UF3Ft4vaU7I/AAAAAAAAAto/RynWsBlXW1o/IMG_1732_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="display: inline;" title="IMG_1732" width="209" /></a></td></tr>

Bringing out all of the big guns for this premiere issue we also find John Blance weighing in with a Blanchitsu and a lovely self portrait, done in the style of a 40k Inquisitor that I’m sure many will recognise. Then his article goes on to discuss John’s Inquisitorial Warband, the art he has whipped up for them, the figures he has converted and the lovely archaic accoutrement he has assembled to go with it all. A really inspiring little article that continues to show that no matter your opinion on his art style, he has a real mastery over the aesthetics of the GW games.<br />
<br />
Also a popular series of articles from the ‘old’ White Dwarf is the Citadel Hall of Fame, and returning here is a double page on the Necron C’tan The Nightbringiner. With a whole page going to a picture of the studio figure and then a couple of close-ups as well, there is not too much text here, nominated and defended by ‘Eavy Metal’s Anja Wettergren and accepted by the figures sculptor Alex Hedström. There is comment about what a joy the model is to paint and the lovely flowing lines, all well and good and true. What I’d like to have seen is some images of other versions and uses of The Nightbringer, especially as comment is made as to how many times and how effectively The Nightbringer has been used as the base for detailed and varied conversions.<br />
<br />
Parade Ground & Kit Bash are both showcase articles, the first looks at loads of varied figures from the collections of members of the studio team. To call these figures basic would be a disservice, but at the same time they are for the most part simply examples of well done, out of the box units from GW’s three games. Lacking any great focus it’s hard to pick much to stand out here, although Duncan Rhodes’ dragon skull bearing Peasants are fun. I’d have rather seen a varied selection of figures about a theme of some kind, one army, one figure, one painting style, etc. Kit Bash was exactly that, three different Ork Bombers, again more detail could have been added, but for those looking to kit bash their own Bombers, or any other Ork vehicle there is definitely inspiration to be found here.<br />

Battle Ground give the detail about a project that I’m talking about, six pages describing the pieces, effects and idea that went into the Urdek Refinery; one of the themed boards that was used in the 6th edition 40k rule book. This has the mixed blessing of being made up almost entirely from GW terrain pieces, meaning that it is nice and clear what has been used to do what and anyone could recreate or take direct inspiration. Of course the down side is the fact that only those working for GW can afford to work on this kind of scale. Still the article does contain a lot of great ideas and goes through the thought process behind a lot of the decisions. A lot can be learnt here, I really hope that alongside massive pieces like this the future of Battle Ground pieces include ideas for small scale and home made pieces of terrain. Also note the red word at the start of each section heading, that is carried out throughout the entire magazine and is another of the little touches that add to the smart feel of the design.<br />

The focus here is on Chaos Space Marines. Various Legions are described in the format to the left here along with rust techniques and detail on how to copy the studios different Daemonfire (chaos glow) techniques. Also included is a section on Ork Dakka Jets and tips from Ben Johnson from the start of the magazine on how he painted his banners and warpstone for the Skaven. The image to the left is a Sons of Horus Forge World marine, they also cover Emperor’s Children, World Eaters and Death Guard in their heresy-era colours.</td></tr>

Jeremy Vetock, occasional stand-in for Jervis, GW games designer and all round ‘hobby champion’ also has his say in this issue, he talks about dreaming big and wanting to make his games as epic and perfect as possible. The article itself is an interesting read, I hope that if he stays a regular contributor his articles include a little more in the way of details on top of the inspiring but vague thought.<br />

After 17 pages of store listings, recommendations for going to a Hobby centre, following them on Facebook, subscribing to White Dwarf et cetera, comes the final section of mini articles, This Month In… Covering four different operations, White Dwarf, The Design Studio, Forge World and Black Library. These are great little reads, just a few pages each. I felt they really captured a lot of what I wanted to hear about things in general and also really gave the right feel about the hobby from White Dwarf and some honest to God decent information about the other teams’ work.<br />
<br />
All in all I’m very pleased with the new White Dwarf. There are facets that can improve and I hope the quality of thought behind the articles continues. I like the lack of advertising throughout the entire magazine and I wouldn’t even begrudge one or two article appropriate half pages more if they felt they needed them, although they can hold off on the full barcode and price point idea of previous terrain articles for example. Not being the hardest of reviewers I’m going to give this issue a <span style="color: red; font-size: medium;">8.5/10</span>.<br />
<br />
For WarLlama’s sake here is a picture of the issue’s advert, I know how he loves them. Plus the last page image, I guess we all know what the focus of November’s issue will be (to be released on October 27th).<br />
